Better late than never...

    Hey everyone...
    I'm a 56 year old transgendered woman who has been dealing with coming out trans for the last ten years or so. I spent a long time trying really hard to be a hard-working family guy in a big house in the suburbs and finally became overwhelmed by alcoholism, addiction, debt and an industry slowdown; I had no idea who I was.
    The more sober I got, the more I realized and accepted that I was, and had always been, female.
    I've had an amazing life and done a lot of stuff, including runing two stores that catered to the trans and gay community..not doing that right now,though. I'm living proof that we get a second chance at being young;I have much more in common with with people ten or twenty years younger than I am than I do with my greying contemporaries...
    I'm a passionate rocker(I listen, don't play),dancer, listener, and writer/poet.
    I'm here to learn.

    That is an interesting intro and a lovely photo. You look great, and a lot younger than 56. :thumbsup:

    We have a few members asking about transexual and transgender. With your experience it would be great if you could get involved with these discussions.

    I'm very happy to be a big sister/mother surrogate to my younger trans sisters and brothers, but I'm in the same boat as ya'll when it comes to the coming out thing..
    All I know about coming out is that the more I do, the better I feel....

    Good to see you here Darya - and I'll agree that was one great intro - and an excellent pic...you look great!

    I hope you'll enjoy EC...and I'm sure you can be of great help - we don't have a lot of TG people who have 'been there' and can answer some of the questions we get...and of course, most of us can be sympathetic...but can't truly understand the problems in the way that you would.

    Wow. Thanks for the great intro. And yes - you look great for your age!

    I can relate to being the hard-working family guy in the burbs and ending up totally overwhelmed by addiction. As I came out of that daze, it was clear to me that I was gay, and had been denying it my whole life. It certainly is NOT an easy road to travel, but I'm working very hard on it as well.
