    ITT: we welcome me.

    Welcome, plasticcrows.
    Thank you, OP.

advice relevant to use of this site, advice irrelevant to the use of this site, descriptions of the userbase/community, unwritten rules, things the forum frowns upon,

Random question: The code of conduct page explicitly prohibits the use of language that resembles hate speech. Does that mean the word "niggardly" is out?

It's actually etymologically unrelated to the N word. It originates from the old norse verb "nigla" which means to whine or fuss about petty or unimportant matters.

How does this forum feel about posting in old threads and double posts? If a thread was last posted in a few days ago and is on the second page of the sub forum it has been placed in, is it too late to post in it?

Welcome  people seem to rescue threads from two or three pages in all the time around here.

So long as it's not months or years old, it's probably fine. Most people tend to just make their own threads because everyone likes to have "their own" thread, and most of the OPs people try to relate to from old threads may already be inactive.
