To upload a forum avatar, you will want to go over to your UCP by clicking My Settings. From there, on the left you should see "Settings & Options" and the first option under that section is "Edit Avatar". Scroll down to where it says "Use Custom Avatar" and make sure you click the circle so that the option is checked. Then choose whether you want to upload it from a URL or from a personal file. If you`re getting that message, then maybe you are not using the right file format (.jpeg, .png, .gif etc.) make sure it ends in a suitable format!
Hello and Welcome to EC!! You could be getting that error because the file is too big. I get that a lot of times.
