    That, uh, seems oddly apathetic.

In addition to your utter disrespect of almost 1500 dead, temples, buildings, and historical sites toppled, look at the 2nd response in this thread.

Guys, I dont think this is the right place for that
    __________

Anyways, this is horrible! This only shows how unpredictable our Earth is. Earthquakes, volcano eruptions, typhoons, etc. We should always be careful and ready at all times. Medical kits and emergency food and flash light should be always present in your households. I have no way of saying this without sounding like your school principal or science teacher but is has to be said.

My prayers goes to those who were affected.

Horrible news.. =( Such sad news for family and friends of people that died there because of the earthquakes.

I hope they'll get lots of financial support from other countries, to restore things, because I've seen pictures of the situation and there seems to be a lot of damage to the country.

This is a really unfair and unfortunate news :frowning2: My heart goes out to the families who have been destroyed.

What an inconsiderate thing to say. Show some empathy or don't comment at all.

This story is really being dwarfed here by the UK general election. I haven't seen any appeals for aid, or even that much coverage  Reading about it on the BBC news website, they're still expecting the death toll to rise because many of the worst areas are remote and hard to reach. The scale of this thing is ridiculous - casualties not just in Nepal, but India, Tibet, Bangladesh...

Japan's infrastructure is all based around the risk of earthquakes. With the amount of money foreigners pay to climb Mount Everest every year, surely a bit of it could go into landslide prevention etc.? Perhaps the Himalayas are just too vast and changing to manage something like that.

Nepalese infrastructure is awful at the best of times. Too many people will have been isolated more than they are as it is; unelectrified and poorly serviced communities already have massive problems accessing medical and other care under ordinary circumstances.

I'm really dreading the aftermath of this. The death toll is already tragic and I'm not sure how well authorities will be able to respond.

    That was really unnecessary.

It's a terrible disaster, but they tend to garner less attention when they occur in certain places. A similar disaster in Australia, the US or mainland Europe would have been headline news for days.

Urgh... I hate to jump on the bandwagon... but this might help you.

It's terrible news for their families/friends/partners. Please imagine how you'd feel, if people you cared about, died in that earthquake. I call bullshit on the tough guy impression. The ability to feel empathy, exists within you, and you just aren't trying. You don't have to feel awful and bawl your eyes out. But you should acknowledge that this is a disaster and try to be respectful. I say this out of concern for you, and to be blunt; I see a bit of my edgy teen self in you. Anyway, you'd be cooler, if you were a more considerate badass!

That's definitely true, but I remember the Pakistan floods in 2010 being a massive story and it had a similar death toll to this one. The news is just bombarding us with this election stuff non-stop and it isn't making a lot of room for anything else.

Whatever comes around, goes around. But you know, people like you will never learn. "As you sow so shall you reap". I'm not religious in any way, but it's true. If you can't say anything positive/necessary, don't speak at all, because your actions/words will repay you. Grab a dictionary if you struggle to comprehend anything I have wrote.

If you need to, use it. The trolls need feeding once in a while, even if they happen to be sociopaths.

This is so sad. My heart goes out to all the people in Nepal. These events are a example of how destructive our earth can be. Nepal is quite a mountainous place making it harder to aid them for countries like Australia, the Uk and America. So let's hope that India or China help these people affected by the earthquake.

    That is awful.

I don't know what to say as words won't ease their pain or bring loved ones back... We lived similar thing and that thing changes you...

Hope they can return to their normals lifes smoothly which even feels like impossible to them at the moment I know.

Humans easily build things that can destroy more than 2.000 lives but still at this age we are helpless in situations like that or against cancer or other deadly diseases.
